Through EarthExplorer (http://earthexplorer.usgs.gov) you can search, download, and order U.S. Geological Survey products from the following datasets: Aerial Photographs, Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR), Declassified Data, Digital Elevation, Digital Line Graphs, Digital Maps, Earth Observing 1 (EO-1), Global Land Survey, Landsat Archive, Landsat Decadal, and Landsat Science. You can also search and review products from the Radar, Spot, and USGS Commercial datasets.
As a Registered User, you can save profile information and order defaults, save search results and search criteria, track orders you have placed and Download data.
1. Select your Dataset
Click on 
next to the category name to show a list of datasets.
As of 2009 most EarthExplorer Datasets will be downloadable at no cost.
The 
Icon indicates selected data within the datasets can be downloaded at no cost.
The search can be narrowed by adding specific criteria for each dataset.
Click Additional Search Criteria (at the bottom of the Select Datasets box).
2. Enter your search criteria
You can search by address, place name, latitude/longitude, or by clicking on the map.
Examples:
Address: 47914 252nd St, Sioux Falls, SD
Place Name: Great Sand Dunes
Define on Map: Click the map to select a location.
To select an area of interest click once, then move the curser to cover an area of interest and click again.
Enter Coordinates: latitude (N, S) and longitude (W, E) coordinates can be entered as degrees, minutes, and seconds; or as decimal degrees.
To zoom in and zoom out, click the buttons on the top left of the map.
3. Search
To receive all available results, change Number of Results to the maximum number (1,000). You may want to start with a broad search and narrow it down after obtaining the initial results.
Click Search. This will take you to the Results Summary page.
4. Results Summary
The search may take up to a minute to finish. The status will appear as Running; once done, the status will show Complete.
Click on the dataset or Results to view a list of the available data.

A list of results will appear, 10 per page.
You can see footprint of each item by clicking Show in the Show Footprint column next to the individual result. A reference map will appear with the footprint on it. Multiple footprints can be displayed on the map.
You can either redefine your search criteria, download, or order the product(s) shown.
To redefine your criteria, select Redefine Criteria.
To download, click the link in the Download column.
To order, select the item(s) in the Order column then click Add Selected Items to Shopping Basket The page will refresh.
Once you have selected the products to be ordered, click View Shopping Basket.

From the Shopping Basket, just 5 steps will complete your order.
Step 1
If you have not registered, you will now be required to register to purchase your data.
Continue Shopping will take you back to the Results page. Selecting Checkout will take you to the Order Summary screen.
Step 2
This page summarizes the products you ordered and the total cost.
Step 3
Enter the appropriate information; be sure all address fields are complete to receive shipment of the product. These fields will automatically populate based on your registration.
Click Submit Address Information.
Step 4 Payment /Submit
Address Information, Pricing Summary, and Items Ordered will be viewable.
Payment Method
This is a secure site. Click the appropriate payment option, Credit Card or Other.
You also have the option to cancel the order at this point.

If you have a USGS EROS account, your order will be automatically activated after verification of funds and account status. By selecting Credit Card your order will be activated after verification of the credit card is complete. If you selected "Other" your order will be on hold until you send us payment. If payment is not received with in 30 days of today's date the order will be cancelled.
