What is a Standing Request?
The standing request function lets you search for new data set collection records on a periodic basis, off line. Customers wishing to obtain continuous coverage of data over a specific area generally use this feature.

How to setup a Standing Request
To set up a standing request, you must first select a data set and run a search. In the Search Results Summary page, click on the Setup Standing Request icon and follow the directions described under Setup or Edit Standing Requests Page.

Standing Request Menu
When you click on the Standing Request Menu item, you will see the status of your standing requests. You must set up a standing request from the Search Results Summary page before one will be listed on the Standing Request Summary page.

The Standing Request Summary page lists all of your standing requests and shows the status of each of them. The following is a definition of the codes shown in the status column of the Standing Request list:

A = Your new standing request is waiting to execute.
R = Your standing request is currently executing.
P = A standing request that previously executed is waiting to execute again.
F = There is a problem with the inventory server and your standing request could not execute. It will attempt to execute again.

The results of a completed standing request search will be found under Saved Results.

The Standing Request Summary page also lets you edit, rename, or delete your standing requests. You must choose the standing request you wish to change by clicking on the radio button next to a standing request name.

Edit Icon
The Edit icon takes you to the Setup or Edit Standing Requests page where you can edit one or all of the parameters of your standing request.

You can choose between a TXT (text) or CVS formatted metadata file. FGDC refers to the Federal Geographic Data Committee format. You can receive your metadata in the FGDC format (if available) in addition to the EarthExplorer metadata format.

To complete your standing request, enter a name (for your request) in the Standing Request prompt box shown below the table. Click on the Submit icon.
